Olive Harvest
In the Mediterranean, the olive tree symbolizes peace, strength, fertility and longevity. Each year, L’OCCITANE celebrates the new Olive Harvest and the pressing of fine A.O.C. olive oil from Chateau d’Estoublon in the Baux valley of Provence.
Our harvests reflect the love of the Provencal people for their work, their respect for the countryside and for time-honored traditions. In the autumn, the olives are gathered, cold-pressed into oil and then bottled as it has always been. The pure, rich oil is an integral part of Provencal culture and cuisine.
A beauty care secret
The olive is a real Mediterranean beauty secret; its fruit is a remarkable source of nutrition. A key element in the “Mediterranean diet”, olives are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants, which are known for their beneficial health properties. When the fruit is pressed in the mill, the olive oil separates from the water of the fruit, both of which are rich in active ingredients.
Olive oil has been recognized for its natural moisturizing, regenerating and softening properties. After days of working in the sun, men and women would spread olive oil onto their skin to hydrate and soften their skin. This collection was inspired by a tale of the extraordinary power of the Golden Branch. In the 17th century fairy tale of the Golden Branch, written by Madame D’Aulnoy, it was said that like a magic wand, the olive branch could turn into a Golden Branch to grant people's wishes.
The Olive Body Care collection combines three Olive Tree extracts: the leaf, water & oil. The olive tree leaf is a new, exclusive source of continuous hydration for the skin. The leaves retain water and protect the tree from heat and drought. Under the leaf, there are many little “hairs” that close and stick to the leaf if it needs to retain water and then open when the air is not too dry and allows water to evaporate. It’s like a clever water retention system depending on the climate. For the skin, the olive tree leaf extract offers optimal and long‐lasting level of moisture. Results have been proven by a laboratory‐conducted skin hydration test. Additionally, the olive water provides ample protection for ultimate skin radiance.
