Organic Buruti – Sun Protection
In the virgin forests of the state of Pará, you can find the Buriti harvest. This majestic palm only grows in areas where there is an abundance of rain and sunshine, and it gives thanks for these gifts by producing bunches of gigantic fruits from December through to June. In this region’s indigenous language, "Buri-ti" means "tree of life" because each of its parts can be used by man: the trunk for shelter, the leaves for crafts, and the fruit for food.
From its dark-red fruit, a sunny-colored oil is extracted that contains a very high concentration of the antioxidant beta-carotene (3 times more than a carrot!). In addition to giving a healthy glow, it protects the skin against the aging and dehydrating effects of sun exposure. L'OCCITANE uses this Ecocert-certified organic oil in its sun care products, combined with 100% mineral sunscreens.
