Christina's Trip To Burkina Faso - Second Post

by L'Occitane USA

Our Director of Brand Communication, Christina Polychroni, is documenting her current trip to Burkina Faso. This is her second post.

It is winter time here, 70 degrees!! And 90 degrees in the day time- What is the summer like?

Ouagadougou is a true big city, big buildings and hundreds if not thousands of bikes and motorbikes. But the first day was the travel to Leo, where L’Occitane has launched microcredit programs and literacy centers. The trip was 2 hours of lush shea trees on our sides , a straight road, boney donkeys waving at us and red red soil, only getting redder as we were going deeper south. Huts made of mud and straw left and right and smiley, very smiley people. Also..bottles full of gas sold at tables on the sides of the streets, to accommodate for the need for extra gas for the motorbikes.

First stop the shea production center….

Second stop…microcredit program (launched by L’Occitane and Entrepreneur de Monde- a non-profit offering women easy access to microcredit loans and economic training programs)…

And third stop literacy center (managed in partnership with Aide et Action- a non-profit that aims to improve access to quality education for women and children)…

More on these three visits and pictures with them , when I buy another hour of internet connection…..
