Christina's Trip To Burkina Faso - Sixth Post

by L'Occitane USA

Our Director of Brand Communication, Christina Polychroni, is documenting her current trip to Burkina Faso. This is her final post from her visit to Burkina Faso.

Back in New York, back in yet another snow storm... But looking back to the four days we spent in Burkina Faso with a big smile ...because this trip was for me much more than just business and much more than just travel pleasure.

Starting generic and going more specific:

Generic facts: Look at the pictures of the trip and you will probably agree with me that we are or should be content with our lives. All the things we take for granted are not the standard nor the norm in other parts of the world, so let’s all smile and be thankful for what we have. Specific facts: Working for L’Occitane makes me feel proud and happy. Why? Simply because the ingredient that we all love so much in the company, the miraculous Shea Butter, comes straight from that small country in West Africa and it is created through the handmade efforts of 12,000 women – the same way as was done by their mothers, grandmothers, and so on... It is about paying homage to all these women and their powerful presence, and being able to honor their traditions by simply continuing our business - and thus being able to offer a better life, food, water, literacy, and assistance in their first entrepreneurial steps.

So for me, this trip was life-changing- an opportunity to appreciate what I have but also L’Occitane’s efforts to make a difference in people’s lives...in the land of honorable people...
