Voyage en Méditerranée
Eau de Parfum collection tells the tale of a fragrant odyssey.
The Mediterranean Sea is a mosaic of cultures, languages, colors and landscapes. It is a place that looks both to the past and to the future, where the sun shines from every corner of the sky. The lands around the Mediterranean are home to many aromas. To smell them is to picture the men and women who harvest the most exquisite raw materials in tune with the seasons and who have transformed plants into perfumes for thousands of years. To smell them is also to remember the sailors carried by the scents of these fragrant lands, who would return home bearing rare essences.
Let yourself be swept away on a magical journey through the Mediterranean, which invites to discover the richness of these olfactory lands – the richness of the natural Mediterranean treasures. Tunisia, Corsica, Egypt, Tuscany, Morocco, Spain, France… In a thousand and one lands of paradise, fragrant plants reveal their secrets. The Voyage en Méditerranée Eau De Parfum collection tells this fragrant odyssey. Each fragrance in the collection is represented by a unique wind rose.
The Wind Rose
In days gone by, through listening to the wind and observing the stars, sailors invented the wind rose, an early form of a compass. The wind rose guided them through the Mediterranean as they searched for secrets closely guarded by the sea and faraway lands. For them, it became an essential companion, one they could never travel without. Like lucky charms or figureheads, they believed that the wind rose had special powers and watched over them on their voyages.
Each of these lands would announce its presence through a distinct aromatic signature capturing all of the richness of its plant life in a scent carried by the wind. When approaching Tuscany, ships would be greeted by the rich scents of Iris. Near Corsica, sailors would be guided by the soft breezes of Myrtle wafting from the shores. Arriving in the Côte d’Azur (French Riviera), sailors would relish in the powdery scent of Mimosa. Upon reaching sun drenched Spain, sailors were greeted by the warm and sensual scent of Labdanum. Crossing over into Morocco the sailors would immediately recognize the vibrant freshness of Cedar. Coming ashore in Tunisia sailors would be welcomed by the sensual fragrance of the orange blossom essential oils of Neroli. And, when carried to Egypt’s Nile Delta, the birthplace of perfumery, the sailors would be captivated by the sweetness of the Jasmine flower, which is closely connected with the greatest queens of Egypt.
The Voyage en Méditerranée bottle was designed by Olivier Baussan, the founder of L'OCCITANE. The caps are reminiscent of the treasured wind rose.
