Peach Blossom

At the foot of the French Alps, the colors and scents of peach orchards and vineyards delight the senses. The flowers of the peach tree, with pink petals, are all sweetness and femininity; tender, velvety and sweet.

The Peach is a very Provencal ingredient: traditionally cultivated at the foot of the Alpilles Mountains, in the Plaine de la Crau (Plaine of Crau). Peach trees enhance the landscape with colors and scents, in tune with the rhythm of the seasons. Peach blossoms fill the orchards and vineyards with splashes of mouth-watering color and perfume.

"Reine des vergers", "Manon", "Mignonne". In Provence, the names given to peach trees pay homage to the beauty of young women in those first days of spring. The peach tree's pink-petalled flowers are so soft, so feminine; their orange-tinted, velvet-soft fruits are the most delicious aspect of summer!

Boutis is a very intricate textile art, typical of Provence. The technique dates back to the Middle Ages, when experienced embroiderers would use their agile hands to quilt fabrics and decorate them with motifs inspired by the colors and landscapes of the region. They created branches and garlands of flowers using a "padding" technique, which makes it possible to obtain raised motifs. Such motifs would decorate home linens and traditional clothing. These beautifully detailed cloths would be exported throughout the world. As a result, boutis has become a shining example of Provencal craftsmanship.
