Kigelia (Bignoniaceae family) is a small, twisted tree that grows to a height of 15 meters. It is widespread in dry tropical regions of Africa. The elongated, very large fruits, which hang from the end of a long stalk and weigh up to 10 kilos, have earned the tree the name of "sausage tree". It is planted in villages as an ornamental tree.
