Yes, the price might look a bit high (and it is), however I've owned a lot of different shaving
soaps and creams over the last 20 years, some with and some without their official bowl/cup/tub/mug and I have to say that this one is of very high quality, and looks nice with any decor, protects the
soap, and will last a lifetime.
Of all the
soap &dishes I own, this one is the only one I would purchase again if it were lost/stolen/destroyed.

This bowl is inferior and the metal flakes into the
soap and your shaving brush. It also corrodes after use and has developed a hole in the bowl from the corrosion. I have thrown one bowl away and returned another one. Obviously something seriously wrong here and very bad for the L'OCCITANE brand! Poor product!

I bought this because about 5 years ago I had bought another one and was very pleased with it - cast aluminum, very heavy, a great piece. Well, this new one is a piece of junk, pressed aluminum, about 1/3 the weight of the old one and without an ounce of character.
