Adrien Moniquet: Jewelry Forged in Heritage

This young 27-year-old artist, who opened his shop in Maussanes-les-Alpilles over a year ago, uses a technique inherited from his grandfather for creating jewelry. Adrien Moniquet forges silver and different metals using a hammer, a traditional technique that he has managed to modernize.

A dynamic young man, Adrien Moniquet is already at the helm of his own store, located in Maussanes-les-Alpilles since May 2012. All he knows of his trade, he learned from his grandfather, famous in the region. As a child, he loved riding his bike around the workshop. Many years later, at age 21, Adrien Moniquet chose to learn his craft “just by looking, without talking, simply by reproducing the gestures,” he explains.

His grandfather’s “very personal” technique consists of forging jewelry using a small hammer, as in the days of old. Adrien Moniquet has acquired and modernized it, for an amazing blend of tradition and innovation that results in the finest jewelry with elegant finishes.

Like his grandfather, Adrien Moniquet works silver and a range of metals, playing with their elasticity to create beautiful clasps. His favorite piece is the “Marie-Colette” bracelet, a “terrific” classic of his grandfather’s that he wanted to revisit. To find the name of his creations, Adrien, like his grandfather before him, simply uses the name of the first person to buy them. So when will it be your turn?
