Frédéric Hawecker A Master Chocolatier in Provence

In Châteaurenard, between Saint Remy de Provence and Avignon, lies a true creator of sweet delights. Frédéric Hawecker, an award-winning chocolatier, was kind enough to welcome us through his doors. Chocolate addicts beware!
By Caroline Taret

From the window of the Frères Hawecker store on the square of the little town of Châteaurenard, your senses begin to play tricks on you... The pretty shop front says it all: a chic patisserie and chocolate shop lies within. Wedding cakes and other glistening and contemporary cakes catch our eye and remind us how wonderful it is to take a sweet little break from time to time. As soon as one enters the space, a waltz of colors and creative shapes leads us to the store windows... Chocolate dominates of course! For chocolate making is the Haweckers’ specialty, and will allow you to discover all the skills of Frederic and his talented - and friendly – teams. The ‘voyage en chocolat’ invites you on a world tour of flavors through 24 original creations, wonderful little candies that teleport you from Mexico to India via Ireland or Italy. And not necessarily in that order!

The unique winner in 2011 of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France, or Best Craftsmen of France competition, in the field of chocolate, Frédéric Hawecker is a virtuoso in his field. Established in Provence for over ten years with his brother, he is committed to offering unique creations based on the generous Provencal ingredients surrounding him. So for the Meilleur Ouvrier de France competition, he presented the Flocon de Noël, or ‘Christmas Snowflake,’ a sweet tribute to the region, accompanied by a pretty tale, which is composed of a fruit compote associated with a speculoos praline and topped with milk chocolate. Delicious!
