Like the famous Hanami festival in Japan that celebrates the beauty of the cherry blossom, the blooming of the Golden Mimosa on the French Riviera is an event. The hills adorn themselves in bright yellow, the soft perfume of the Golden Mimosa fills the air, and childhood memories come flooding back one by one. A genuine ray of sunshine in the middle of winter, the flowering of the Golden Mimosa heralds the spring with unique power and daring. The inhabitants of the region cherish this moment, captured by the painter Bonnard, who had a studio in Cannet with a view over the hills.

The guide Matthieu Whyte leads us on our discovery tour in the hills around Tanneron and tells us the story of the mimosa of Provence, yet another marvel to discover in this region, which keeps on surprising us. With its fragile little balls made up of hundreds of stamen, Mimosa’s hazy edges create a general atmosphere of softness. During the walk, we are disturbed by the power of this color, as much as the subtlety of the perfumes that are given off by these vigorous trees. The yellow pompoms dance on the air with the wind defying the rays of sunshine, present that day however. A winter walk which resembles a dream with a view over the Mediterranean; magic and marvelous !
