Very popular with inhabitants of the French Riviera as well as with tourists, the ski resorts of the Southern Alps are very appealing, offering miles of trails fully equipped with ski lifts and high-altitude restaurants. Open from late November to mid-April, when the season is at its height, they are located only half an hour from Nice and three and a half from Marseille.

Between family-style, villagey ski resorts and more trendy ones with sea views, the choice is vast. Among the best known are Auron, Isola 2000 and Valberg, located in the Mercantour Valley and considered international ski resorts with over 135km of skiable terrain, but also Pra-Loup and La Foux D’Allos, located in the Alps of Haute-Provence. Next come the smaller stations near villages such as La Colmiane, located in the Mercantour Valley, or Gréolières Les Neiges, located in the Grasse hinterland near Opio.

Even if skiing remains the favorite, the ski resorts of the Southern Alps overflow with many other activities: ice skating, snowshoeing, hiking, tobogganing, visiting the famous park of Mercantour, spas or aquatic centers... There’s something for everyone !
