HOW TO HAVE BEAUTIFUL HANDS

We use our hands to express ourselves and they say a lot about us. So it's not surprising that they're one of the first things people notice. And while we all remember to take care of our face, the same can't be said of our hands… Yet the skin of our hands is fragile too, exposed to environmental aggressions every day: cold weather, cleaning products, sun, water, etc. What's the risk? They could become dry and age prematurely. If you want to keep your hands looking beautiful all year round, follow our beauty guide!

4 BEAUTY TIPS FOR BEAUTIFUL HANDS

TIP 1: CLEANSE

Cleansing your hands is the first essential step in your hand beauty ritual, but it also involves an enemy we tend to forget: water! Every time you wash your hands, make sure you wipe them dry thoroughly, so the water won't dry your skin. To prevent your hands from drying out, avoid using products with a drying effect, such as hydroalcoholic products. Opt for soaps with gentle formulas, like the Verbena Liquid Soap, enriched with shea extract.

TIP 2: EXFOLIATE

Your body and face love a good scrub – but your hands need exfoliation too. Once or twice a week, use an exfoliator that's designed for the hands and gentle on the skin, to slough away dead cells and leave your hands ready to soak up all the benefits of a moisturizing cream. The Shea One Minute Hand Scrub is formulated with shea, sweet almond and grapeseed oils and helps to nourish and soften the hands in just one minute.

TIP 3: MOISTURIZE

So what's the ultimate secret to beautiful hands? Hydration, hydration, hydration. Your hand cream should be your faithful companion, ready to be applied whenever needed, to help maintain the hydrolipidic film that naturally protects your skin. It has to nourish, moisturize and protect. An effective hand cream contains fatty substances and moisturizing agents, such as shea butter. This moisturizing blend lies behind the success of the Shea Butter Hand Cream, which has been L'OCCITANE's top best seller for over 20 years.

TIP 4: TAKE CARE OF YOUR NAILS

Another secret to beautiful hands is strong, well-looked-after nails and protected cuticles. Your cuticles are at the base of your nails and they play a protective role – so it's important to look after them. The Shea Nail & Cuticle Nourishing Oil helps nourish and soften cuticles, for stronger, shinier nails. It's important to look after your nails too. Nutrition tip: make sure you eat foods rich in biotin, such as soybeans and almonds.

HOW TO HAVE BEAUTIFUL HANDS IN WINTER

In wintertime, the cold and the wind dry out your skin, making it more vulnerable to feelings of tightness and discomfort. So make sure you keep your hands well moisturized at all times, and never be without your hand cream – or your gloves! Nighttime is the best time for cell regeneration, so make the most of it to smother your hands in cream. Leave it on all night long, then wake up to hands that feel as soft as ever.

SHEA BUTTER: A L’OCCITANE TRUE STORY

SHEA BUTTER: A L’OCCITANE TRUE STORY

For over 20 years, L'OCCITANE has put its beauty expertise into the Shea Butter Hand Cream. The success of this best seller dates back to 1980, when Olivier Baussan, founder of the brand, and Yves Millou, a specialist in natural cosmetics and essential oils, brought together their know-how and their passion.

The intensely moisturizing blend at the heart of this cream would never have been possible were it not for the partnership with the women of Burkina Faso, who, thanks to their expertise, are responsible for both the production and the quality of L'OCCITANE shea butter. In 2015, the brand purchased 750 tons of shea butter from these women.

Every 3 seconds, a L'OCCITANE Shea Butter Hand Cream is sold somewhere in the world. Over 20 years on from its creation, find out more about the recipe for its success…

SHEA BUTTER: EXCEPTIONAL HYDRATION

SHEA BUTTER: EXCEPTIONAL HYDRATION

Shea butter has been used in Africa for thousands of years. According to legend, Queen Nefertiti owed her beauty to this ingredient and its extraordinary benefits. The shea tree grows in the wild, in the savannahs of western and central Africa. The fruits of this tree, about the size of an avocado, contain a nut, which in turn contains a very oily, whitish kernel. This kernel is processed to obtain the famous shea butter.

Shea butter contains Vitamins A, E and F, karitene and essential fatty acids, which give it moisturizing, protective and softening properties. It's the ultimate ingredient for perfectly moisturized hands!
