Milk & Honey
In Provence, "Oh Bonne Mère!" is often used in speech to end or break up a sentence. It expresses surprise, relief, joy, a stroke of good luck or, most importantly, kindness. In Marseille, the famous basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde, set upon a rocky hill, is known locally as "la Bonne Mère." The "Bonne Mère" (the statue of the Virgin Mary on top of the bell tower) would guide sailors and was believed to protect the soap makers of Marseille, who held her in particular esteem. It is the most important place in the hearts of all the people of Marseille. This universal, maternal image inspired a new range, which celebrates gentleness, generosity and the family spirit.
