just treated this to myself a month ago in NYC. at first i thought it was a little expensive for a small amount of hand cream but as soon as i took it home, i realized that it is worth EVERY CENT. i'm extremely cheap (i think maybelline is expensive lol)so for me to say that this is worth every bit says a lot. it smells like a lavendar garden and feels so luxe. if you're on the fence and treating yourself to something, i would definitely recommend it!

Not only does this hand cream leave one's hands smooth & hydrated, but the packaging is perfect for tossing it in one's bag without the risk of leakage. The screw-top NEVER accidentally clicks open - leaving a mess in your purse! I lost my sense of smell 19 months ago after a serious concussion, so I cannot comment on the scent. Due to that, I'm going to try the other hand cream (Shea Butter) just to compare; L'OCCITANE is my #1 for skincare, period! My face & body are balanced.

I've been a huge fan of L'Occitane in general, and their lavender products in particular, for many years. This is still my favorite hand lotion, but as others noted, the scent does seem a bit different from what it used to be. The lotion itself also seems a tad thinner to me. I really miss the Lavender Facial Toner that they used to offer, and the Olive Oil Toner, too ... wish they would stop discontinuing my favorites :-(

I absolutely love the smell and feel of this lotion. I'm even happier that I got to try it out for free! The smell is great but it felt too harsh on my sun exposed sensitive skin. When my hands are healed it feels just fine. The smell really relaxes me.

This is the best hand cream I have ever used. Not only doesit make your skin soft but the lavender fragrance is so amazing that I love smelling my hands every time I use this hand cream, which makes me feel like I am in Provence. I sent the samples with my husband to Italy and he is enjoying them as he travels around with our daughters. I had to stay home with my geriatric uncle, canceling at the last minute. The travelers are enjoying all the L'Occitane travel items i sent along for them to use while traveling!

Most hand creams are either too thick or too sticky for my liking, but this cream was neither. The lavender smell was mild and the cream absorbed easily. I used this while at work and was able to go back to using my computer without feeling like I was leaving an oil slick on my desk. Thank you for this sample, it was a great product.

I love this hand cream, it is so rich and luxurious without being to greasy and the fragrance is so perfectly delicate. My skin feels so wonderfully soft and supple. After trying the sample I ordered this cream and the sample size was so generous.

The sample I got is great, but then I love lavender enough to own the L'Occitane lavender fragrance. As always with L'Occitane, the hand cream is very moisturizing, but not greasy. When I run out of the other hand cream (especially great for travel), I'll buy the lavender one.

It's as calming and relaxing as it's advertised to be; I love to put it on just before going to bed. It is also a very effective moisturizer. It seems expensive for the size, but its fragrance tempts me to splurge on it.

This smells divine ...you have to understand what true lavender smells like ...many people just don't - this is lovely - I would say the previous reviewer is not really a lavender fan - not everyone is. As a 'hand cream' - I would like it to be a bit richer but it is lovely & I think makes an excellent 'body' cream

Somehow the scent of lavender with this hand cream holds the best on me (rather than the body lotion or other lavender lotions) without ending up giving a perfume-y or medicinal scent after being absorbed into the skin. Great lotion, too.

I love this product! It has a clean soothing fragrance that I never get tired of. I prefer the purity of this fragrance to one mixed with other fragrances. It goes on clean, no oily residue and melts into your skin. It calms and refreshes.

I really miss the previous lavender scented products. They had a stronger lavander fragrance and a much richer texture. Hoping you will bring it back.

It has a beautiful scent, but too strong for me. I am sensitive to smell and the fragrance overwhelmed me. But the hand cream went on silky and my hands felt moisturized without being filmy. I shared the sample with 6 other co-workers! It was the sample that kept giving, which mean a little goes a long way. They all loved it.

This is a great light, shea butter cream with an earthy soothing lavender scent. I love the light, creamy texture and scent of Provence.

I love the smell but for moisture, nothing beats the Shea Butter.

I did like the previous Lavender scented products better as they had a stronger essence of lavender extract to them; and I really miss the Lavender Relaxing Foot Creme and hope you will bring it back.

I wish it smelled less sweet and had a greener, pure lavender smell. Otherwise, nice texture and consistency. I like that it is light as it gets absorbed right away.

It was an improved scent over the old lavender...somewhat spicier. The lotion was efficiently absorbed, but I think your basic hand cream is more therapeutic.

Although this is a lovely product,with lavender scent, it is pale in comparison to the foot cream, which carries less ingredients and more shea butter. I wish you would make the shea butter cream with the lavender scent. I'm not sure I would buy this again because although it is ok, it is a bit thin for a hand cream. It is more like the "extra-gentle" body lotion I have from you (but again wish it was lavender based)

I didn't like the smell or the texture of the Lavender. It seems more watery and doesn't last as long as the Shea Butter Hand cream . Shea is so much better than the Lavender.

The texture is OK, but do not like the lavendar fragrance - old-fashioned scent from the earlier 20th century.

This hand cream feels wonderful, but smells awful! It smells like bad mens aftershave.

Very strong fragrance, it causes allergies to my fiancé. You feel a kind of layer on your skin after applying it. Not that effective for dry skins; probably effective for normal-oily skins.

I didn't take to this fragrance. And it did dissipate quickly. I wonder what the older version was like...

I had to wash this off immediately - very disappointing. I could smell the lavender, but it was mixed with such a strong astringent or alcohol base, that the result was completely off-putting. Try Crabtree & Evelyn's hand cream to experience the difference. Big difference.

I love L'Occitane products and have been a customer for years. I received the free lavender cream sample, but was disappointed with the way the lavender smelled. It didn't smell like fresh real lavender. Instead it had a musky, artificial lavender smell. I know L'Occitane uses great ingredients, but I don't know why their lavender line smells different from the real, fresh lavender scent I am used to smelling such as found in products like EO, Bonny Doon or Pre De Provence.

I much prefer the old lavender to this new one. The smell was much nicer.

I love the smell of lavender, but maybe not on me. It smelled like bug repellent on me, but most reviews are good so I'll say it just isn't for me.

I am very unhappy with this new fragrance of lavender. I think it smells very manly and I don't like the gel-like texture. I like the thick cream of the old scent. I hope they change back to the previous lavender scent, it was much better.

I wish this was in the larger size (5.2 oz) as I just love the scent and the way my hands feel after use. Have to restock it frequently though as the tube is small and I use it several times a day. Well worth the price, have tried so many different hand creams and this one is by far the best.

I've watched your video of lavender fields in Provence, and can only say that the visual beauty begs for pure, uninterrupted lavender fragrance; nothing can be added to perfection.

Did not like the scent. To me it smelled like lavendar only for the first moment then it went to some other smell - to me it was like spicy-like cinnamony like something you'd smell at christmas. I definitly wont be buying it.

Sorry, but this version of the hand cream (and all the other new Lavende products) pale in comparison to a previous version L'Occitane made. The Eau de Toilette came in a cylindrical dark blue bottle, and it was so close to real lavender that I couldn't tell the difference between it and my own plants. The current version smells very little like real lavender, and dissipates almost immediately. Bring back your old version.

This is the most soothing hand cream ever!Wonderful for both hands and spirit. The cream itself absorbs instantly. But the light, totally refreshing fragrance lingers, just enough to remind us that we are special! I'll buy this product for as long as it's available. I hope that's forever! --Dr. G.

I loved the sample! It was perfectly moisturing for me - well absorbed, no extra residue, wonderful aroma. Absolutely perfect hand cream, except for the small cap. I almost ordered some for my mother (age 97) but she would never be able to "manage" the little screw-on tube. What a shame. Wish this were available in a pump or some other easy-to-dispense container.

I use this on my hands and elbows at night -- which gives it time to "sink in" and smells wonderful as I'm going to sleep.

This hand cream smells great. It is very calming, soothing and warm, but if you're like me with dry, cracked, bleeding hands in the winter I would go for the regular Shea. What is even better for me is the Ultra Rich body lotion which does a great job of moisturizing my hands.

I don't know if there is something wrong with my sense of smell or if I'm predisposed to disliking the smell of lavender, but this smells like toothpaste to me. Also, the moisture doesn't last very long and my hands will be dry again in a few hours. I'm sure it's a great product for many, but it just doesn't work for me.

At last I found THE hand cream I have been looking for! Lavender is my favourite essential oil. The texture of this cream is just right for the dry weather of our state. I just love it. So I bought the big size for home and a small one to put in my purse. I'm so happy!

I keep mini tubes in every purse, one big one by my bed side, and some in the bathroom and baby's room.
