About the ingredient
In Provence in the south of France, thrives a miraculous flower, the angelica. With remarkable resilience, the botanical possesses an exceptional ability to sustain its vitality by reaching deep into the Earth for a continuous source of water – its source of life. The secret lies in its deep roots. Like natural waterways, they trap the water needed to feed this tall plant, up to its beautiful flower. Known for its toning and stimulating properties, the angelica is often compared to Chinese Ginseng.
Today, Angelica is cultivated for a number of uses. All parts of the plant are of value: the stems and stalks may be candied, while the root and fruits are distilled. Angelica water reinforces skin’s natural hydration, while stimulating the synthesis of aquaporins, the water channels of the skin. The essential oil, made from the roots, possesses toning and stimulating properties. L’OCCITANE uses both the water and essential oil in its Angelica Skincare range to drench skin in moisture for long-lasting hydration and a radiant, youthful complexion.
