The true story of Shea Butter! In that distant land grows the sacred Shea tree - also called “Women’s Gold”, as only the local women are entrusted with the delicate process of creating its Shea Butter, and benefit from its trade. Through a long-standing partnership, L’OCCITANE buys Shea Butter at a fair price directly from three women’s cooperatives, thus assisting 14,000 women in building a brighter future for themselves and their families. Men and women form different cultures, working on the same product with the same devotion, bringing people together through a special bond – the very basis of a lasting relationship. This is the essence of the wonderful Shea Butter story that has united L’Occitane with the women of Burkina Faso for so many years” - Olivier Baussan, founder of L’OCCITANE. Shea Butter is an ideal beauty ingredient, used by women in Sub-saharan Africa to help nourish and protect their skin and hair. L'OCCITANE uses shea butter from Burkina Faso, harvested in a sustainable and fair trade partnership with the women who produce it.
