“This label is a good thing for us and extremely beneficial.” Henriette Ouédraogo, president of the Ragussi group, which produces organic shea butter, in Tanghin Dassouri. What are your thoughts about EFT label? “For me, EFT label has given us a real boost and has many positive aspects, even though it also imposes certain constraints. From a social point of view, there has been an improvement in the living conditions of the people involved. From an environmental point of view, it has raised awareness about the importance of protecting the environment, and particularly our ecosystem (preventing desertification, enriching our soil with organic fertilizers, identifying new areas to harvest shea nuts).” In what way does this label help the women? Are there any disadvantages for them? “They are very happy because their husbands have more respect for them. And working conditions have improved, in terms of both hygiene and safety. They also feel more involved in their work, having received the information about the principles of the EFT standards, and they take greater care in their everyday activities. There are no real disadvantages, but it takes some time and adjustment to adapt to new working regulations.”
